About this piece
Finnish master Alvar Aalto (1898–1976) softened the International Style with flowing forms, brick and warm wood, and this TASCHEN Basic Art Series hardcover by Louna Lahti explores how. It covers civic landmarks such as Säynätsalo Town Hall and the Helsinki House of Culture, as well as the wave-like furniture, lamps and glassware that remain Scandinavian design classics. The 96-page, richly illustrated book measures 8.3 x 10.2 inches and suits any design shelf or coffee table. A natural holiday gift for lovers of Nordic and mid-century modern design.

- Maintenance Oil-finished wood should be re-oiled every 6–12 months using a food-safe wood oil. Avoid prolonged sun exposure — UV light fades natural stains and dries out the wood. Wipe spills immediately and never leave wet items on the surface.
- Cleaning Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with water or mild soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or bleach-based products, which damage the finish and void the warranty.
Poor or improper maintenance — including failure to re-oil, use of harsh chemicals, or prolonged moisture exposure — disqualifies the item from warranty coverage and return eligibility. Please follow the above guidelines to preserve your piece.
