About this piece
TASCHEN’s Basic Art Series distils the life and work of architecture’s great names into compact, richly illustrated 96-page hardcovers, each with a life-and-work introduction, major projects in chronological order, a list of works and a location map. Choose from ten modern masters: Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Alvar Aalto, Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, R.M. Schindler, John Lautner and Tadao Ando. Each 8.3 x 10.2-inch volume is written by a leading historian or close associate, from Jean-Louis Cohen on Le Corbusier to Wright’s former apprentice Bruce Brooks Pfeiffer. Collect a few for the coffee table or give one as a thoughtful holiday gift for lovers of architecture and mid-century modern design.

- Maintenance Oil-finished wood should be re-oiled every 6–12 months using a food-safe wood oil. Avoid prolonged sun exposure — UV light fades natural stains and dries out the wood. Wipe spills immediately and never leave wet items on the surface.
- Cleaning Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with water or mild soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or bleach-based products, which damage the finish and void the warranty.
Poor or improper maintenance — including failure to re-oil, use of harsh chemicals, or prolonged moisture exposure — disqualifies the item from warranty coverage and return eligibility. Please follow the above guidelines to preserve your piece.
