About this piece
Abigail Ahern's Brockley Portable Lamp is built around one practical insight: a well-designed lamp shouldn't be tethered to a wall socket. Battery-operated and cordless, the Brockley can move freely between surfaces, rooms, and outdoor spaces, which makes it a more flexible lighting tool than most table lamps, and a genuinely useful addition to any interior.
The lamp body is a glass and metal construction with the same atmospheric sensibility as Ahern's other pieces, it looks considered rather than utilitarian, even without a cord. At H12.6" x Dia 9.10", it's a compact form factor that works on a dining table as a centrepiece, on a bedside table as a soft light source, or moved outside to a terrace or balcony in warmer months. It comes with an included E27 3V LED bulb and is powered by 3xAA batteries.
The diffused shade produces a warm, ambient glow rather than task lighting, best treated as a mood lamp that happens to be cordless rather than a replacement for a hardwired fixture.
An especially practical choice for renters, frequently rearranged interiors, or outdoor spaces where running a cord isn't an option.

- Maintenance Oil-finished wood should be re-oiled every 6–12 months using a food-safe wood oil. Avoid prolonged sun exposure — UV light fades natural stains and dries out the wood. Wipe spills immediately and never leave wet items on the surface.
- Cleaning Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with water or mild soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or bleach-based products, which damage the finish and void the warranty.
Poor or improper maintenance — including failure to re-oil, use of harsh chemicals, or prolonged moisture exposure — disqualifies the item from warranty coverage and return eligibility. Please follow the above guidelines to preserve your piece.
