About this piece
Hans Bølling created Discus in 1961. The birds are shaped like an antique discus that the ancient Greeks portrayed in their sculptures. The discus is made of pine wood.
The hand-painted parts represent the colourful plumage of the bird, whereas the chest of the bird remains unpainted, revealing the natural qualities of the wood. The beautiful grains of the wood contrast the painted parts of the bird.
Discus comes in a family consisting of four members of different colours and sizes (all sold separately) that can complement and brighten up the space by the window or on a shelf.

- Maintenance Oil-finished wood should be re-oiled every 6–12 months using a food-safe wood oil. Avoid prolonged sun exposure — UV light fades natural stains and dries out the wood. Wipe spills immediately and never leave wet items on the surface.
- Cleaning Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with water or mild soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or bleach-based products, which damage the finish and void the warranty.
Poor or improper maintenance — including failure to re-oil, use of harsh chemicals, or prolonged moisture exposure — disqualifies the item from warranty coverage and return eligibility. Please follow the above guidelines to preserve your piece.
