About this piece
A pair of vases made from genuine British 18-pounder artillery shell casings, the standard field gun shell of the Royal Artillery in the First World War. The base of one is stamped "18 PDR" with a 1916 date, placing production squarely within the war — likely during or just after the Somme offensive. Each casing has been hand-cut into a crown of stylized leaves at the rim and engraved with floral motifs down the body, the kind of trench art soldiers and artillerymen produced from spent ordnance during the war. A genuinely dated piece of wartime history, sold as a matched pair with the maker's stamp intact and visible.

- Maintenance Oil-finished wood should be re-oiled every 6–12 months using a food-safe wood oil. Avoid prolonged sun exposure — UV light fades natural stains and dries out the wood. Wipe spills immediately and never leave wet items on the surface.
- Cleaning Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with water or mild soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or bleach-based products, which damage the finish and void the warranty.
Poor or improper maintenance — including failure to re-oil, use of harsh chemicals, or prolonged moisture exposure — disqualifies the item from warranty coverage and return eligibility. Please follow the above guidelines to preserve your piece.
